Manganese and its compounds is used in construction materials mainly to color the surfaces of ceramics, bricks, and tiles with bright colors such as brown, green, purple and black.
The surface coloring of glazed bricks and tiles, building decoration materials in some Western European countries, mainly uses MnO2 as a coloring material. The colors are bright, long-lasting and not easy to fade, so they are very popular among people.
Besides, manganese dioxide is also used in the production of colored concrete products. And activated manganese dioxide is used as a hardener to make activated manganese dioxide paste for the use in construction polysulfide sealant.
